Peaks 1-23 can be found here.
The Dix Range: 9/1/19
24. Macomb
This was my favorite peak in the Dix Range! Macomb probably doesn't even have the best views in the range, but it is such a fun hike. The climb up the slide was so interesting (and pretty fast).
I hiked these peaks with Jenn, Lachlan, and John O.
25. South Dix
This summit view is pretty boring. Just a small treed clearing that we nearly missed. But watching the trees below get farther and farther away as we climbed to the summit was awesome.
26. East Dix/Grace
This peak had great views! It was a bit windy.
27. Hough (pronounced "huff")
I remember that we all felt pretty good on this peak. We were cruising through the mountains at a good pace. We didn't stay long at this summit because we wanted to push onto Dix and get our last peak for the day, but I really loved the view of Dix from Hough!
28. Dix
We took in the great views on Dix, happy to have finished the range, and then began the steep but beautiful Beckhorn Trail down. The Elk Lake lot was full when we arrived in the morning, so we had to park at the other state lot ~2.5 miles down the road. An Elk Lake employee gave us a lift for about a mile on the way in, so our total mileage for the day was probably ~18 miles and ~5200 feet of elevation gain. I felt pretty good this day! We moved fast and I was surprised how easy this hike felt for me. :)
Cliff/Red: 9/28/19
29. Redfield
I did this hike with Paul... in contrast to my last hike, we did not feel like athletes on this day. We woke up at 4:30am to leave for this hike... after going to bed at 2:30am after a Whoppler. Ugh.
We took a break and lied in a leanto for almost an hour. Not our best work.
30. Cliff
The hike in and out to these peaks from Upper Works is super long and boring. It rained almost all day (no views :() and I did not enjoy descending the slippery Cliff scrambles in the wet. We got caught in a time warp and were late to meet Lachlan to camp that night.
DIRTY THIRTY!!!
The Seward Range: Part 1, 9/29/19
31. Seymour
Another wet day hike. Did this one with Paul and Lachlan. No views.
Giant-RPR Traverse: 10/5/19
32. RPR
What a day! Accomplished my first repeat peak (Giant) for a Giant-RPR-Bald traverse. The views along the ridge did not stop! What an amazing hike during the peak fall foliage...
Did this one with Jenn, Lachlan, Paul, Sam, and Margaret.
The Seward Range: Part 2, 10/13/19
33. Seward
Led this trip for my first official Outing Club trip of the semester. The Sewards were muddy.
34. Donaldson
We had a clear day, but the Sewards are so remote and far away from the other peaks that the views aren't the most impressive.
35. Emmons
We did this one on Columbus Day weekend and there weren't even that many other hikers out in the Sewards! Can't say I blame them...
