Here's what I wrote to the CPSC:

Black Diamond Equipment (BD) released a "Safety Call" on April 15th, 2022 asking users to check their Avalanche Safety Beacons for a vague issue in changing from "send" to "search" mode. Avalanche beacons are crucial safety gear when traveling in avalanche terrain. I own a Black Diamond Recon BT Beacon and in the event of an avalanche, I rely on it to switch to search mode to find buried members of my party buried. I am concerned that BD isn't properly disclosing the defect in their safety gear.
