To Do: Thru-Ski of Adirondacks' Jackrabbit Trail

The Jackrabbit trail is a 50km cross-country ski trail located in the Adirondacks. The 1986 trail is maintained by Barkeater Trails Alliance (BETA) and named for Herman “Jack Rabbit” Johannsen, an Adirondack skiing legend. The Jackrabbit trail is European-inspired, allowing users to traverse a day's worth of distance in the backcountry and arrive at a town each night. A few days of winter fun + the ability to sleep in a warm bed? My interest is piqued.

The trail links Keene, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, and Paul Smiths via four different ski centers and a multitude of backcountry routes along the way.
