Lodge Lake July 2021 Trip Report
My first steps along the PCT.
July 4th, 2021
From my watch...
4.01 miles
878 feet of elevation gain
I woke up late... and lazy. I couldn't find an appealing hike on my to-do list, in my guide books, or online. I wasn't in the mood to deal with holiday weekend crowds, a long drive, or a steep, difficult hike.
That's a big ask for the Fourth of July.
I found Lodge Lake somewhere online (maybe AllTrails)– it didn't seem particularly difficult, or crowded, per the reviews. Only about an hour from Seattle... it would do!
After quickly packing my trail running bag, I was off for my first day on the Pacific Coast Trail!
It was indeed not crowded. There was still plenty of space in the lot when I showed up after 11AM. My first steps on the trail were exciting, my head full of future possibilities.
Maybe one day I will walk from Mexico to Canada.
The trail cuts across a ski hill in the beginning, and the views come quickly.
Then it was into the forest!
Lodge Lake was pretty, but not much to write home about. There was a large, loud family outing so I snapped a few photos and went on my way.
Not bad for last minute!
