Rainy Days in Seattle
I've learned that rainy days in Seattle are the best times to go outside!
We get the most happiness when outdoors without a lot of other people around, and Seattle is a city full of outdoorsy people, so we use a bunch of tricks to avoid crowds at the trailhead. Others we've written about before like waking up really early, or finding less popular trailheads. Another I've discovered is to go outside when the weather is less friendly.
From my limited experience Seattle's infamous rain is usually a drizzle, which turns Cascadia's protected lands into vibrant rainforests with lots of moss, ferns, and beautiful trees. It also discourages crowds who aren't used to going outside in the rain. Since the spring and early summer have had mild temperatures in the low elevations in the Seattle area, I can hike in just a synthetic baselayer and get wet. If I wore my rainjacket I'd get just as wet from sweat and I'd be clammy, hot, and uncomfortable.
We've also gone gravel biking in the rain, which was muddy but fun!
